We partnered with the Cincinnati Red Cross to install free smoke alarms, improve our community and save lives at A Cause for Alarms: Megablitz 2017.
We give back to our local community during the holiday season by giving gifts to children in need through the Crossroads Angel Tree project.
We give back to our local community through participating in the Rubber Duck Regatta that provide meals for hungry children in our Cincinnati community.

Bill is a noted entrepreneur and staffing innovator with more than 35 years of experience in recruiting and staffing in the healthcare industry. Bill is the CEO of Health Carousel which is the 20th largest healthcare staffing company in the United States. The company has enjoyed an 84% CAGR over the last 5 years, and in 2017, was recognized as a Fast 55 company in Cincinnati, # 624 on the INC 5000, and a Best Place to Work company in Cincinnati. Health Carousel operates three separately branded lines of business in nurse travel staffing, international staffing, and locum tenens physician staffing. Bill founded Health Carousel with a vision of providing a range of workforce solutions to help healthcare organizations better meet their goals in providing cost-effective, high-quality healthcare for patients. The company’s purpose is to improve lives and make healthcare work better for everyone. Bill gets the most satisfaction from his involvement in staff recruitment and development, business strategy and planning, and creation of customized workforce solutions for healthcare organizations.
Prior to forming Health Carousel, Bill was the co-founder and chief operating officer of Health Personnel Options, which was one of largest and fastest growing travel staffing companies in the country, and a pioneer of Rapid Response staffing. HPO was acquired by On Assignment in 2002 and subsequently acquired by Medical Solutions. Prior to HPO, Bill was Managing Partner at R.E. Lowe Associates, which was a leading healthcare retained search company. Bill is a past president of the American Association of International Healthcare Recruitment (AAIHR).
Bill earned an MBA (concentration in organizational development) and a BS in marketing; both from The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH). GO BUCKS!
Bill relies on the support and counsel of his wife Shelly, who happens to be an HR consultant. Outside of work, Bill keeps busy with the activities of his daughter, Cameron, and son, Jared. Bill is also an avid golfer who sadly doesn’t get to play often enough.
Ty Nelson is President of Health Carousel LLC. During his tenure, Health Carousel has grown to be the 33rd largest healthcare staffing firm in the United States and the second fastest-growing firm in 2015.
His career spans 25 years, with experiences in a variety of industries, including healthcare staffing, healthcare management consulting and software development. Before becoming President, Ty served in a variety of roles at Health Carousel including responsibility for marketing, technology, recruiting and operations.
He earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
Ty is actively involved in the Ohio Valley Princeton Association and enjoys spending time with his family. In his (limited) free time he enjoys squash, cooking, golf, and running.
John has over 20 years of experience in industries including asset management and assurance/business advisory. Prior to joining Health Carousel, John was the CFO at FSI Group, where he supervised all aspects of the finance, operations and administrative functions, including the modeling, structuring and settlement of various securities transactions. Earlier in his career, John worked in the audit practice at Arthur Andersen, serving a diversified client base including financial services, staffing, manufacturing, retail and marketing companies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Xavier University, and is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs.
In John’s role as the Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s Finance, Accounting, Operational and Reporting functions, and is an advocate for identifying process improvement opportunities. John works with the CEO and the owners of the company to evaluate and consummate mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances.
John enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and children, reading and playing soccer and tennis.
As Chief People Officer and Vice President of Human Resources and a key member of the senior leadership team, Marijke has introduced an innovative employee engagement strategy to significantly enhance employee satisfaction, directly correlating to our employees’ performance and productivity. Marijke can often be heard in the hallways of the Health Carousel office saying, “It is all about the employee experience; our people are our number one priority and investment.”
Before joining Health Carousel, Marijke built a successful career with Cincinnati Bell as the VP of Human Resources and with Proctor and Gamble. Her career has included a series of strategic leadership roles in sales, operations planning, mergers and acquisitions, recruiting, compensation, diversity and inclusion, change management, training and development. Marijke earned a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University.
Other than the Health Carousel employees, Marijke’s priorities include her supportive husband Kirk, their three wonderful children, Connor, Kees, and Ryka, and the family’s English Bulldog Argus. Marijke also lives her passions by actively gives back to the community supporting causes such as research for juvenile diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and as a current board member of the Red Cross. When not working, Marijke enjoys traveling, photography, and hot yoga.
John Sebastian is Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Travel Nursing at Health Carousel and his passion is driving breakthrough growth. John has a career with broad business leadership and marketing experience, leading brand portfolios from $100M to $1.6B across multiple industries, ranging from Health & Beauty to Industrial Sales. He is an award-winning marketer and digital/e-commerce native, building killer brands like Old Spice and Febreze. He also has significant sales experience, leading sales organizations working with leading retailers, distributors, and health-care customers.
Before joining Health Carousel, John served as Vice President and General Manager at Newell Brands and in a variety of leadership roles at Procter & Gamble including head of marketing and business strategy for P&G’s Personal Care category and leading P&G’s Walmart Sam’s Club Customer Team across their health, beauty and baby portfolio. John started his career as a consultant at Accenture, leading a variety of projects focused on process improvement and strategy development.
John graduated from University of Notre Dame with a BBA. in accounting and earned an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Stephan M. Ross School of Business.
Kevin Armour, Chief Information Officer of Health Carousel, brings nearly 20 years of experience to the table and oversees a growing IT team that spans all four of Health Carousel’s offices.
Prior to joining Health Carousel, Kevin was the CIO at top 100 accounting firm Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co. where he spearheaded the implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) solution and led process improvement through automation. Before that, Kevin was the Vice President of Technology at Paycor. For over 17 years he was a key senior leader in the creation of the SaaS product that make up the Human Capital Management suite. He was responsible for leading Enterprise Architecture, DBA team, security and infrastructure.
Earl Dalton, Chief Nursing Officer at Health Carousel, brings over 20 years of acute hospital experience to the team. Dalton provides guidance and best practices from his vast experience to help create the best nursing experience possible. In a new era of healthcare where nothing is more important than the patient experience, Health Carousel gains the knowledge and expertise of a patient experience expert. Dalton was published in Customer Care News for innovation in customer experience in 2015. As a testament to his leadership, Dalton was invited to speak to a national audience at the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses on “Innovative transformational leadership” in October of 2012. Prior to Health Carousel, Dalton worked for Tri-Health Systems, a 320-bed acute care facility, as the Director of Emergency Services, where he won a Lantern Award for exceptional practice and innovation in an emergency department setting.
Erik Schumann joined Health Carousel in 2017 as Chief Sales Officer, bringing with him an extensive portfolio of sales experience. Erik’s key priorities include growing Health Carousel’s client base and revenue and developing strong relationships with healthcare systems across the U.S., providing our team with the opportunity to make healthcare work better. Prior to joining the company, Erik was Senior Vice President at Convergys Corporation, where he managed a P&L portfolio of 20,000 employees in eight countries with more than $600 million in annual revenue. Erik also held a variety of sales leadership roles at Convergys, including Senior Vice President of North American Sales and VP Communications Vertical. Prior to Convergys, Erik worked in sales at Cisco and Sprint, and as a consultant for IBM Global Services.
Erik received his MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and B.A. from Denison University.
Andrew Simon is VP of Corporate Development and Transformation at Health Carousel LLC, an organization that was recognized by the Cincinnati Business Courier as one of Cincinnati’s fastest growing companies and been named a Top Places to Work in Cincinnati by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Health Carousel was also recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the country by INC 5000 and the #5 fastest growing staffing company in the country.
At Health Carousel, Andrew splits his time between Corporate Development (M&A target identification & screening, negotiations, due diligence, integration), Transformation (process improvement, organizational effectiveness, change management) and Corporate Strategy (where to play / how to win choices).
Before joining Health Carousel Andrew was a Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy practice working across numerous industries, including manufacturing, consumer products, healthcare, government, technology, and financial services. Previously, he founded and operated a marketing and political advisory company. Andrew also has experience working in venture capital and spent his early career on the campaign trail.
Andrew earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a bachelor’s degree from Bates College.
Jon is a seasoned corporate attorney with considerable experience handling all aspects of M&A transactions across a variety of industries. Jon joined Health Carousel in January 2016 as its first General Counsel and is responsible for all of the company’s legal matters, including corporate governance, business transactions, contract drafting, negotiation and process administration, development of internal and external policies and procedures, risk management and regulatory compliance. In addition, Jon serves as Vice President of Business Development, where he works with other members of the executive management team to lead and execute the company’s growth strategy through corporate transactions.
Prior to joining Health Carousel, Jon served as Associate General Counsel at Omnicare, Inc., where he had primary responsibility for general corporate matters, M&A transactions and other special projects, including a leading role in the $12.9 billion acquisition of Omnicare by CVS Health that closed in August 2015. Jon came to Omnicare in 2011 from Dewey & LeBoeuf, LLP in New York, where he was an associate in the M&A group and worked on public and private transactions across a range of sectors, including healthcare, insurance, media, retail, energy and infrastructure. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and law degree from the University of Richmond.
Tom brings more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience to the Health Carousel team. Prior to joining Health Carousel, Tom served as the Controller for Health Personnel Options, which was acquired by On Assignment. Tom continued to serve in a similar capacity with On Assignment after the acquisition of HPO. Prior to working in the healthcare staffing industry, Tom served as the Area Controller for Hilton Hotels Corporation.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Cincinnati.
Sarah Haines joined the Health Carousel team in mid-2017 as the company’s Controller, bringing with her a strong portfolio of financial work experience. Prior to Health Carousel, Sarah was the Vice President & Corporate Controller at Totes Isotoner, where she worked for nearly five years. Sarah also brings work experience from EY, where she worked for over nine years, spending some time in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She earned both her MBA and B.A. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Matt has over 15 years of experience in the staffing industry. He oversees recruiting and client relationship management for the company’s travel division and is responsible for driving growth in our Tailored Healthcare line of business by developing and delivering strategic recruitment training and sales support. Matt’s key priorities include quality, customer and employee satisfaction. Prior to joining Tailored Healthcare, Matt worked as a Recruiter, Recruiting Team Leader, Recruiting Manager and Sales Manager for On Assignment’s Nurse Travel Division during a 12-year period.
Matt was a standout varsity soccer player at the University of Dayton. After college, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Silverbacks of the NPSL and played professional outdoor soccer with the Cincinnati Riverhawks.
Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Dayton.
Matt’s other interests include recreational ice hockey and running, having completed two marathons. Matt currently resides in suburban Cincinnati with his wife and three children.
Katie has more than 12 years of experience in the staffing industry. Prior to joining Health Carousel, she spent five years in the legal staffing industry assisting law firms and businesses with filling their legal needs. Katie began her career at Health Carousel as an International Recruiter and Account Manager. Through her exceptional work and leadership within that capacity, she has twice been promoted and is now Health Carousel’s VP of International Operations, PassportUSA. In this capacity, she works closely with Health Carousel Philippines and with our agents around the globe. She oversees recruitment, licensing, visa processing, relocation and resettlement, and ongoing employee relations with our foreign-trained healthcare professional employees. She is also responsible for relationship management with our client hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health organizations. Katie is a licensed attorney, who is well versed in healthcare professional immigration laws and regulation. Katie received her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School (Boston, MA) and a Bachelor of Science from Suffolk University (Boston, MA).
Katie thrives on the challenges and complexities of helping highly motivated foreign-trained professionals start their careers in the US.
She is an avid runner and enjoys taking part in many of the Health Carousel hosted athletic events. When Katie is not working she spends all her time enjoying her family, which includes her husband Eric, daughters Addison and Charlotte and dog, Barbara Bush.
After attending GA Tech in Atlanta, Stacey Stanley started her career in the IT industry. Beginning as a salesperson after graduating, she eventually became a sales manager, VP of Sales and eventually a Regional President position.
Having recognized a booming healthcare industry in 2003, Stacey decided to become a joint owner in a startup travel nursing business, and the business grew extremely quickly. After 18 months, the owners decided to go in different directions, and she started a second travel nurse company from scratch. This company rapidly grew as well and was acquired in 2008.
Stacey then started a third company from the ground up. Next Medical Staffing started with two divisions: Allied Health & Locum Tenens, and in 2013, the company re-added travel nursing. Since 2009, Next Medical Staffing has become an emerging leader in the Locum Tenens business before eventually joining the Health Carousel family of brands in 2015. She’s now an executive member of the Health Carousel leadership team.
Stacey currently serves on the NALTO Board of Directors, the NALTO Marketing Committee, the NALTO Meeting Committee and has brought a unique history to the changing Locum Tenens industry with her leadership experience.
Winnie is the Vice President of Next Medical Staffing. In this capacity, Winnie’s primary focus was on the development and growth of the Locum Tenens division, developing relationships with our vendor partners and providing leadership to the allied, nursing and locum tenens divisions. In addition to her management position with all 3 divisions, Winnie carries her own successful book of business.
She has over 15 years of experience in the medical staffing industry. Prior to joining Next Medical Staffing, Winnie was an Account Manager with a local per diem nurse staffing company and a Senior Account Manager for a travel nurse staffing company. Winnie was consistently one of the highest producing managers at both companies. She began her career in medical staffing as the Housing Director for a nurse staffing company.
Prior to entering medical staffing, she spent 12 years in secondary education, with her last 3 years as a supervisor of one of the largest career and technical schools in the country. In this capacity, Winnie supervised teachers spread across 36 school districts in SW Ohio. As a teacher, Winnie’s students placed consistently at the National level and were highly regarded as “National Champions.” Winnie has an Ohio Teaching degree in Marketing/Voc Ed, from Wright State University. Winnie’s motto in business has always been, “do the right thing.”
Winnie is a world traveler, but craves the warmth and sun of the beach. Her favorite destination is China and says that seeing the Great Wall of China for the first time will take your breath away. She is an avid sports fan and is the first person to start the “March Madness” in the office. “Go Cats!” Winnie’s favorite time is spent volunteering for special causes, spending time with her family and miniature Schnauzer, Roxie.
Bob Brayer is the Vice President of Operations at Medical Staffing Options and brings a decade of nurse staffing experience to Health Carousel. Bob served as a co-founder of MSO in 2009 and has continued to lead the team in Columbus, Ohio, post-acquisition (by Health Carousel in the beginning of 2017). MSO has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest-growing privately-held companies in the United States. Prior to founding MSO, Bob built his portfolio of healthcare recruiting, sales, and account management experience at Maxim Healthcare services. He earned his B.A. from Kent State University.
