Join Us in Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness this October

October 7, 2017

This October, the entire Health Carousel family is proud to support breast cancer awareness and research, with hopes of enabling healthcare professionals to provide the best care and treatment available to patients fighting the disease. Breast cancer has affected the lives of many of our employees in some form or another, just as it has for many families and individuals across our communities.

How Health Carousel Is Getting Involved

During the entire month of October, all Health Carousel employees are encouraged to support the cause in whatever fashion is meaningful to them. For any employee that donates to a breast cancer awareness or research foundation, participates in a breast cancer awareness event, or simply helps a loved one or friend who is fighting the disease, Health Carousel is proudly providing them with a wristband to visually recognize their efforts towards the cause. In addition, any employee who contributes to the cause will be given a large, pink post-it note on which to share their experience. Why did they choose to get involved? How has breast cancer affected the employee or someone they care about? These honest and uplifting messages will be on display in each office, demonstrating not only the power of each contribution, but also showing others that they are certainly not alone in this fight.

Employee Spotlight Story: Allie Grace

At Health Carousel, our team is dedicated to our higher purpose of making healthcare work better. For many, this purpose hits home on a very personal level. Below you'll find a story from one our employees, Tailored Healthcare Staffing recruiter Allie Grace, as she shares how breast cancer has impacted her family.

In 2005, my mom unfortunately lost her battle to breast cancer.  At that time, my family and I were trying to find a way to deal with the grief. One thing we knew my mom would like to be remembered by was her generosity and her willingness to always volunteer around the community. With this in mind, we created the Mary Grace Memorial Foundation. Since then, we have helped more than 400 families during their battle with cancer. To date, we have made grants totaling nearly $425,000. We help pay for basic necessities such as mortgage and rent payments, car payments, gas, groceries, and even a special request for new tires for a man so that he could safely drive his wife to chemotherapy treatments. These payments all seem so normal to us, but in the eyes of someone battling cancer, they may prevent them from being able to put all their effort into beating the disease. I truly appreciate Health Carousel’s "Higher Purpose" initiative for the month of October, and I hope it will allow others to tell their stories and get involved as they feel inspired to.
