Care and Collaboration: Health Carousel Sponsors the Race with Grace

September 15, 2016

Allie's Story

For any of you who don’t know me, my name is Allie and I am a recruiter at Health Carousel. This weekend I will be traveling to my hometown Medina, Ohio to organize and participate in the 12th annual Race with Grace. The Race with Grace is an event that raises money to help provide those who have been affected by cancer with the life necessities, so that they can concentrate on battling the disease. The race is in honor of my mom who unfortunately lost her battle to breast cancer back in 2005.  At that time my family and I were trying to find a way to deal with the grief. One thing we knew my mom would like to be remembered by was her generosity and her willingness to always volunteer around the community. With this in mind we created the Mary Grace Memorial Foundation. Since then we have helped more than 400 families during their battle with cancer. To date, we have made grants totaling nearly $400,000. We help pay for basic necessities such as mortgage and rent payments, car payments, gas, groceries, and with a special request to pay for new tires for a man so that he could safely drive his wife to chemotherapy treatments. These payments all seem so normal to us but in the eyes of someone battling they may prevent them from being able to put all their effort into beating the disease. I truly appreciate the support that our company has shown towards this cause!
