Health Carousel Foundation Attends ICN Congress 2023
July 7, 2023
Having just wrapped up our final day at the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Congress in Montreal, Canada, the Foundation wanted to share our observations while they were fresh in our minds. "Our" being Health Carousel chief nursing officer Earl Dalton, and myself, Andrew Lingo, foundation executive director.
I can't say I was surprised by the number of nursing associations in attendance, but the opening plenary featuring the Parade of Nurses did make quite an impression. As the congress went along, it was very apparent that the work of the Health Carousel Foundation was well-received.
It was our first ICN Congress, and it was undoubtedly fruitful. We spent time at sessions, staffing our exhibit booth, meeting with constituents, and attending receptions as the days went along. We spoke to many attendees representing projects and organizations the Foundation can potentially assist. I genuinely look forward to all the fact-finding conversations from this over the next several weeks.
I asked Earl to share his thoughts on the global event.
"Watching nurses across the world come together to celebrate nursing, sharing similar concerns for our profession and our patients, was amazing. In my 27 years of nursing, this was a highlight I will not soon forget."
Thanks to the International Council of Nurses for the honorand privilege of joining the global nursing community to celebrate the profession, share ideas, and learn about the wonderful improvement projects the ICN has underway worldwide.
Special thanks to the Canadian Nurses Association and its leadership for hosting this year's event in Montreal, Canada, where the city shined bright with its historic jazz festival, entertaining nurses from across the globe. What a fantastic showcase it was.
When the ICN Congress commences in Helsinki, Finland, in2025, the Foundation will undoubtedly be able to showcase new meaningful ways we support global nursing development and sustainability due to our time in Montreal.
