Health Carousel Strengthens Commitment to Ethical Recruitment by Joining Slave-Free Alliance

Health Carousel is proud to announce our membership in the Slave-Free Alliance. Membership followed Slave-Free Alliance performing an extensive review of Health Carousel's policies and processes and interviews with a wide range of internal and external constituents to ensure that business operations and its supply chain mitigate the risk of modern slavery.

Slave-Free Alliance is a team of unrivaled experts dedicated to addressing modern slavery in organizations and supply chains globally. Their members comprise hundreds of organizations worldwide, including some of the most respected global brands.

The importance of actively addressing and monitoring modern slavery in healthcare recruitment has never been greater as record numbers of healthcare professionals are being recruited and migrating across the globe. Developed nations have seen a 60% increase in foreign-educated healthcare professionals since 2010. This trend will undoubtedly continue as the global healthcare worker shortage has grown significantly, partly due to the pandemic.

As more significant numbers of healthcare professionals migrate to new countries and cultures, the opportunity for incidents of modern slavery increases as well. Therefore, Health Carousel is joining forces with the social enterprise Slave-Free Alliance, which supports businesses that want to protect their operations from modern slavery. Membership in Slave-Free Alliance aligns with the Health Carousel Light the Way initiative, whose three social impact pillars include the ethical recruitment of healthcare professionals globally.

As a part of membership in Slave-Free Alliance, which is part of the pioneering global anti-slavery charity Hope for Justice, Health Carousel will take part in regular reviews of our recruitment partners and operations. Slave-Free Alliance will also run ongoing modern slavery awareness training for our employees and contractors to ensure they are equipped with the skills they need to spot the potential signs of modern slavery and know how to report them.
